The Role of Spouses in Supporting National Service
Let’s talk about the support staff that never gets a uniform.
The ones who don’t appear in the annual reports. The ones whose names are not on the duty roster. The ones who will never receive a commendation letter…
But without whom… the work simply could not happen.
We are talking about the spouses.
Every immigration officer who shows up at that checkpoint… ready, focused, and whole…
Got there because someone at home made it possible.
Someone packed his bag. Someone handled the school fees so he wouldn’t carry that worry to work. Someone kept the children calm when they missed their father. Someone prayed him out and prayed him back. Someone made home a place worth returning to.
That is not a small thing.
That is the backbone of national service.
And IMMOWA exists to say that loudly and clearly… on every platform, in every room, at every table where immigration families are being discussed.
The spouse’s role is not secondary. It is foundational.
IMMOWA advocates for the recognition, well-being, and empowerment of immigration officers’ spouses across Nigeria.
Because a nation that honours its officers must also honour the families that sustain them.
That is the work. And we are not stopping.
